A dinner dance with a difference has raised a hair-raising total of over £70,000 for two cancer causes.
The Big Wig Ball was a night of dining, fun, entertainment and dancing for 500 guests in a marquee venue at Manor Farm, Grimscote, near Towcester, on May 10.
The fundraising event was organised by Yardley Gobion resident Lindsey Carman, who has been receiving treatment for breast cancer since the beginning of 2013.
Mrs Carmen said: “I’m amazed. It was way in excess of what I’d ever thought. People were so kind and generous.”
The theme came out of Mrs Carmen’s own experience.
She said: “I wore a pink wig for most of the time when my hair was falling out and so we said: ‘Dress code, everyone has to wear a wig.’ People didn’t recognise each other!”
