A MUM from Gawcott is hoping to recreate the aroma of her childhood at family events across the Advertiser and Review region.
In January Lisa Adams launched her home baking business, Partybakes, and has a growing list of clients.
The 42-year-old said her love of baking started as a child, an enthusiasm she explored at the old Austrian Bakery in West Street, Buckingham as a Saturday and student job.
She went on to train as a nurse and built a head for business as a project manger in the pharmaceutical industry.
She said: “The reason I started doing it originally was because my little boy was going to a lot of birthday parties and basically everything was bought in from Waitrose and Tesco.
“There’s nothing wrong with that, but I thought it was a little sad there wasn’t any traditional things, egg and cress sandwiches, fresh cakes, homemade jam biscuits.
“I suppose it takes me back to my childhood, where you come home and there’s the smell of freshly baked cakes, you kind of feel mum really loves you because she’s gone to all this effort.
“Now that I’m doing it and being a bit creative, you realise actually a lot of love goes into it because it is labour intensive.”
And as a one man band working from home Mrs Adams can offer whatever the family party market calls for. She can enlist the help of friends to cater on site for a client all day. On other occasions clients can collect food from her home to supplement their own baking.
