Northants Police are urging people in Brackley and Towcester to keep their newly-received Christmas presents safe by having them marked.
Laura Jones, community safety manager for Northants Police is encouraging people to make sure valuable items can be identified in some way to make them more difficult for thieves to sell on.
She said: “Marking property can act as a deterrent to would-be thieves or people who deal in stolen goods, as it makes it easier to identify the property as stolen if they are found in possession of it.”
She added there were a number of security devices and marker systems on the market including marking property with a unique code, writing your name and postcode on valuable property with a UV pen and registering items on the free national property register www.immobilise.com.
