Would-be firefighters from Oxfordshire can learn some of the tricks of the trade at a fire station open day on Saturday, September 1.
Didcot Fire Station will throw open its doors, and those aged 18 and above can try climbing ladders, wearing breathing apparatus, carrying equipment and simulating moving an injured person.
The activities include some of the selection tests potential recruits must complete.
It is part of an initiative to encourage people, particularly women, to join the fire and rescue service. Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service has the highest percentage of female firefighters in the UK, but says it is always keen to encourage more female recruits to come forward.
Sessions will be held at 9.30am and 1.30pm. Contact Jeanette Dee on 01865 855274 to book a place.
