A BIDDER has been chosen to build the new Bicester Community Hospital, it was revealed at a meeting last night.
Developer Kajima Mansell presented its plans for a 12-bed facility next to the existing cottage hospital in Kings End to members of Bicester’s Community Hospital Engagement Forum (CHEF).
A planning application is due to be submitted to Cherwell District Council next month, and construction of the new hospital could start in January next year if all goes to plan.
Demolition of the old hospital would be carried out in April 2014, and 14 houses would be built in its place.
The two-storey hospital could be extended to meet the needs of a growing town, the developers said.
Facilities will include x-ray, ultrasound, ECG, a first aid unit, an out-of-hours service and an outpatient department.
