Brackley Town Football Club continue to make history after Monday night’s incredible FA Cup First Round victory over Gillingham.
The club and the town hosted their League One opposition as well as the television cameras from BT Sport, who provided pre-match coverage, talking to supporters, filming players and interviewing managers and officials.
Presenter Jake Humphrey and former England goalkeeper David James rubbed shoulders with the fans.
Nearly 2,000 people attended the match at St James Park, which took a great deal of organisation. Stewards were assisted by officers from Northants and Kent police forces.
Before kick-off, the FA Cup was on show, local children as mascots paraded onto the pitch and red and white balloons were released.
Jan Butters, club general manager said: “It was a carefully planned operation that went very well. We had some big games last season such as the play-off final and we are learning all the time. Officials and volunteers did a brilliant job so that we did well off the field as the team were winning on it. We are looking forward to more big nights such as this in the future as the club moves forward.”
The Saints now face Conference Premier side Macclesfield away in the second round of the FA Cup on December 7.
