A foodpreneur who hates the taste of icing is launching a series of cake decorating classes to share her secrets.
Mum-of-one Lisa Adams, 46, set up Party Bakes in 2012 and has since cooked hundreds of feasts and treats from her Gawcott home.
But Mrs Adams, whose baking equipment cost £3,000, wants to pass on her self-taught knowledge so people can decorate at home too.
She said: “Not everyone can afford to buy a professional cake and although people say don’t give the secret away, I feel a bit differently about it.
“I don’t see any reason why I shouldn’t and I would like to do one class a month.”
The former nurse and pharmacy project manager will provide the cakes, equipment and decorations for the Buckingham Cake School workshops.
Trainee bakers simply need to bring a container to take the cake home in.
But Mrs Adams, whose seven-year-old son Alex has already decorated cakes himself, admitted she does not like the taste of what she works with every day.
“I don’t like icing – I hate it,” Mrs Adams said. “It’s too sweet for me but it means I’m never tempted to try it.”
The first two classes take place on November 27 (1pm-3pm) and November 30 (1pm-4pm) at Gawcott Village Hall. Call 07545 194129 for more information.
