A quirky cartoon urging families to prepare emergency evacuation packs has been nominated for a national award.
The Emergency Planning team at Northants County Council put the 53 second film together with the help of design studio RJDM and it has been shortlisted for the ‘best use of video’ CorpComms award.
It features the Numpties characters and offers advice on staying safe during flooding or heatwaves by preparing a grab bag full of items such as toiletries, medication and family photos.
The message has been issued by the county council as part of a campaign called Don’t Be A Numpty.
André González de Savage, county council cabinet member for strategic infrastructure, economic growth and public protection, described the nomination as a ‘fantastic achievement’.
He said: “We’ve been delighted with the reaction to these light-hearted but highly effective videos, which were created by a talented local animation studio here in Northamptonshire.
“The Don’t Be A Numpty campaign communicates a serious message but in a fun and innovative way and I hope this will prompt even more people to watch our series of videos.”
The county council will battle against HSBC, the Technology Strategy Board and Sainsbury’s to be crowned winner of the category, which will be announced at an awards ceremony on November 26.
