The incident is believed to have taken place at around lunchtime on Friday. Various national media reports claim a weapon was discharged but the exact cause of the soldier’s death has not yet been determined.

The incident involved one man reportedly in his 20s and the MoD confirmed the shooting did not take place during exercises.
