Join Buckingham Town Council, Stowe Sub Aqua Group and Buckingham firefighters for the first of Buckingham’s annual River Rinses on Sunday.

Every year, Buckingham Town Council teams up with volunteers from the Sub Aqua Group and firefighters to clean out a stretch of the River Great Ouse that flows through Buckingham.

Items found include old tyres, bicycles, road signs and traffic cones as well as the usual bottles and cans.

Past finds have included a laptop, a lady’s purse with contents, old Victorian bottles and a horse’s skull, complete with bullet hole.

If you would like to take part in the community event, meet at Stratford Fields car park at 10.15am.

Volunteers will begin work in Bourton Park, opposite the cricket club, working towards Cornwall’s Meadow car park.

Appropriate clothing should be worn. Bags, litter pickers and gloves will be provided.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The second rinse will be on Sunday October 9, starting in Cornwall’s Meadow car park.
