THE Friends of Brackley Library have been helping to maintain reading ages during the six week summer holiday.

On Wednesday children were shown how to make characters of from BBCs Doctor Who.

Trish Savill, secretary to the Friends of Brackley Library said they had put on craft activities every Wednesday, and on three Tuesdays over the last six weeks. Ages ranged from three to 11 years old and each session attracted up to 20 children.

Mrs Savill said research showed a drop in reading age during the holidays and added: “The sessions were part of the national Summer Reading Challenge to get kids to read six books during the holidays. If they did they got a certificate and medal.”
