Last year's Rare Plant Fair at Evenley Wood Garden. 120401M-C228

A date for gardeners to look forward to is Evenley Wood Garden’s Rare Plant Fair on Sunday, April 7.

As in previous years, the fair is an opportunity for gardeners to buy unusual and hard-tofind plants as well as many of the tried and trusted reliable garden varieties.

A range of new nurseries, as well as old favourites, will be represented, offering a wide range of interesting shrubs, perennials and bulbs.

All the nurseries are dedicated to providing well-grown plants at reasonable prices, along with information to ensure that the plants you buy thrive in your garden.

The Rare Plant Fair, from 11 am to 5pm, aims to be a great day out for every visitor, whether an experienced or novice gardener or just someone who just likes wandering around beautiful gardens.

The entry charge of £5 per adult includes entry to the gardens.

Children under 16 get in free.

Well-controlled dogs on short leads are allowed in the gardens and fair.

Refreshments will be available.

Set in the beautiful Northants countryside, Evenley Wood Garden, at Evenley, is a 60-acre, private woodland garden offering a huge variety of plants to view, ranging from trees, shrubs and climbers to a wide selection of bulbs, including a substantial collection of lilies.

Early spring sees the emergence of many daffodils along with chinodoxa and several varieties of scilla including the scilla sibirica that comprise the wood’s recently extended scilla ‘stream’ which will eventually wind its way for some 800 yards through the wood.

These are followed by a large collection of magnolias, camellias, rhododendrons and azaleas as the wood enters its most colourful season.
