Blockbuster West End musical arrives for five-week run

Surrender to the music of the night, as the spectacular new production of West End blockbuster musical The Phantom Of The Opera arrives at Milton Keynes Theatre for a five-week run.

The Cameron Mackintosh production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s phenomenal musical success was triumphantly unveiled at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth, in February, and comes to Milton Keynes as part of a national tour from October 24 to November 24.

The show, which stars Earl Carpenter as the Phantom and Katie Hall as Christine, retains Maria Björnson’s amazing costumes but features an exciting new design and staging.

Directed by Laurence Connor with choreography by Scott Ambler, the production is overseen by Matthew Bourne and Cameron Mackintosh.

The show also stars Simon Bailey as Raoul, Angela M. Caesar as Carlotta, Andy Hockley as Monsieur Firmin, Simon Green as Monsieur Andre, Elizabeth Marsh as Madame Giry, Vincent Pirillo as Ubaldo Piangi and Hannah Cadec as Meg Giry.

Olivia Brereton will take the role of Christine at certain performances.

The Phantom Of The Opera has won more than 60 major theatre awards, including seven Tonys on Broadway and three Olivier Awards in the West End. It won the Most Popular Musical Audience Award, voted by the public, in the 2002 Laurence Olivier Awards.

Still running at Her Majesty’s Theatre in the West End today, the London production celebrated its 10,000th performance in October 2010.

The show became the longest running show in Broadway history in January 2006, surpassing the previous record holder, Cats.

Worldwide, ‘Phantom’ has grossed more than £3.2 billion, with higher box office revenues than any film or stage play in history, including Titanic, ET, Star Wars and Avatar.
