Brackley builder gets more than just an African retreat
Roka School in Kenya is being supported by Brackley builder Wayne Martin
A BRACKLEY tradesman who is building a better future for Kenyan school children as he attempts to raise £5,000 for roofing, and new toilets.
Brackley builder Wayne Martin got more than he bargained for when he bought an African bolt hole eight years ago. When a friend took him on a visit to a village Mr Martin said his heart broke to see the thread bare but neatly pressed school uniforms, and impoverished state of the school building. He found the school of 800 had eight toilet, with no doors. Since then he has repaired nearly all the roofs and hopes to return this year to build more toilets.
On Saturday, June 16 a fund raising night at Tingewick Village Hall from 7.30pm will include a raffle prizes of seven nights accommodation in Kenya.
