AFTER last week’s news that Towcestrian Crispin Slee had launched a social enterprise to help other rugby clubs raise funds through sausage and cider festivals, it has emerged that Brackey has already taken him up in his offer.

The inaugural Brackley Sausage and Cider Festival is set to take place on Saturday, August 11.

Mr Slee said the event, which takes place at Brackley RUFC in Nightingale Close, will celebrate real cider made by artisan producers and locally made sausages.

He added: “Brackley is fast becoming the festival capital of Northamptonshire.

“It has an incredible music festival which runs for two weeks, a great beer festival and now it has its own sausage and cider festival.

“Sausage and cider festivals are a great tradition in the west country and that’s no wonder as there a few things that go better together.”

All of the sausages for the Brackley festival will be made by Northaants sausage-maker Duncan Brown. He crafts all of his sausages by hand from fresh ingredients and his own secret seasonings, using no additives or preservatives.

Duncan makes a total of 50 varieties and will bring 20 to Brackley, including vegetarian sausages and a new sausage he is creating especially for the event.

Brackley Sausage and Cider Festival runs from noon to midnight at Brackley RUFC in Fine Lady Fields, Nightingale Close, on Saturday August 11. For more details, please visit www.facebook.com/BrackleySausageAndCiderFestival.

In June around 3,000 people attended the TowcesterSausage and Cider festival.
