The voices of Brackley Town supporters will be heard by football fans across the globe as part of a new UEFA theme tune.

Fans will be recorded chanting the song following Brackley Town’s home game against Harrogate Town on Saturday.

Rob May, owner of Sitting Duck Music and Media, was commissioned to create the signature tune and immediately thought of his hometown Brackley Town fans.

He said: “If they sing as well as they did at the FA Cup match at Gillingham earlier this season they will be fantastic. I was at the match and they outsang the Gillingham fans.

“They are great singers and we are after people who are used to singing at a football match.”

The exact details of the tune, the melody and words are top secret. Any fans who take part in the recording will have to sign confidentiality agreements.

Mr May could not tell the Advertiser which UEFA competition the theme would be used for but did say it is ‘a recognisable tune’.

He said: “We will record them quite a few times and layer up the recording, so in the end they will sound like a crowd of 10,000.”

The chants will then be put over the top of a recording of the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

The recording will take place in the Park Suite Function Room from 5pm-6pm on Saturday. Mr May is hoping to fill the room to its capacity –around 150 fans.

This is not the first time Mr May and his company have been involved in TV sports projects. His credits include the ITV’s FA Cup titles, Setanta Sports titles and the official theme song for the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010.

Sitting Duck have been operating in Brackley for the past 10 years and have also been responsible for the theme music to ITV’s Daybreak and Lorraine programmes.
