Collectors and members of the public are invited on a trip down the rabbit hole for an auction which could raise in excess of £1million.

This week James Perkins, owner of Aynhoe Park, threw open his doors so people can view his exotic collection, which includes a rocket ship, a wide range of classical plaster statues, modern sculptures and much more.

Curled Up, an outdoor wire sculpture made by Sophie Ryder is listed in the catalogue for between £70,000 and £100,000, and is the first example of the artist’s work to go on the open market. Aynhoe Park has gathered media interest over the years as celebrities such as Kate Moss and Jade Jagger chose it as the back drop to their weddings. Mr Perksin said the sale was to make rooms for items he has in storage, and added: “It’s better to have a sale so others can enjoy these pieces.”The three day public viewing starts Friday October 5, and the auction takes place at Christie’s Kensington salesroom on Tuesday, October 9.
