Cinema reopens after major upgrade

editorial image

Buckingham’s independent cinema, the Film Place, reopens on Friday, following a major upgrade of its screen.

Friday’s film, The Sweeney, will be shown at 8pm on the new screen, which is almost 8m wide. The Film Place uses the University of Buckingham’s largest lecture theatre, with a capacity of 180 banked seats.

The Sweeney (certificate 15), is based on the classic 1970s ITV police series about the unorthodox tactics of the London Metropolitan Flying Squad (Sweeney Todd in rhyming slang).

At 7.30pm on Saturday, Searching For Sugar Man (certificate 12A) is the amazing true story of 1970s Mexican-American singer-songwriter Sixto Rodriguez.
