As a ladies’ sewing group continues to thrive members hope to inspire others as they hold their inaugural exhibition at St Bartholomew Church in Greens Norton this weekend.

The church will decorated with examples of the stitching and sewing by members of the Sew and Sews group for the two day event they have called Sew Inspired.

The group was formed three years ago, and has grown from a nine members meeting at one another’s homes, to 24 members running a mixture of meetings and workshops, hosting guest speakers and going on quilt making outings.

Carole Wood, chairman of the exhibition committee said: “We decided to have an exhibition as we are very proud of the work our members have achieved and would like to show the local villagers, the county and beyond, the high standard of sewing ability there is locally.”

The exhibition will feature quilts, both modern and traditional, large, medium and small will be on show alongside a wide variety of stitched objects from cushions to boxes, bags to pictures.

The exhibition is open 10am to 4pm. Entrance is £1 and free to under 12s.
