Staff, customers and members of a ladies football team helped raise £625 for Cancer Research UK by cycling part of the equivalent distance to Lapland.

The Winslow United women’s team joined Tesco staff in Buckingham and other stores to cycle 15 minute legs totalling the 2,000 miles to Santa’s Arctic Circle HQ.

Shop assistant Rahana Iqbal-Raffell who also took part said customers were very supportive and added: “Everyone got involved and we had a lot of support from people walking in and out of the store.”

In total Tesco raised £820,000 during the cycle. Earlier in December Tesco Buckingham donated £1,200 to the Fareshare Food Bank, boosting customer donations by 30 per cent.
