The singing talents of a Brackley headteacher will be heard during a concert next month.

Ian Colling, headteacher of Magdalen College School will be performing An Evening of Musical Entertainment on February 2 in aid of cancer charities.

Mr Colling sings baritone and has been receiving singing lessons in London.

He said: “At the moment I am aware of a significant number of people who are suffering with cancer and undergoing treatment and I felt I wanted to do something to support them.

“The students at Magdalen this year have elected to support cancer research charities and so it seemed appropriate for me to run an event of this sort at the school, which I hope will be entertaining for those in the local area and in a good cause.”

He added he was paying the costs himself so all proceeds would go to charity.

Mr Colling will be supported by Andrew King. Also singing on the night will be Sue Blunsdon, mezzo, Ian Blunsdon, on organ, Nick Planas, on flute, Stuart Hubble, tenor and Jen Hubble on cello. The programme includes Vaughan-Williams’ Songs of Travel and Phantom Of The Opera.

The concert is being held at The Chapel of St James and St John, at the school from 7.30pm. Tickets are available from school reception on 01280 846300.
