District funds panto tour
Looking Glass Theatre Company are performing Alladin and Arabian Nights panto at The Royal & Derngate Theatre.
ENTERTAINMENT: Families in the district will not have to travel too far for a seasonal panto this year after South Northants Council agreed to fund a travelling theatre company’s tour of Aladdin.
The community grant will help bringto bring the show to five venues in the district.
The first performance took place at Evenley Village Hall on December 2 and was well receivedby the audience.
A spokesman for SNC said comments included ‘laughed a lot’ ‘fantastic again’ and ‘another fab performance.’
Performance are set to take place in Towcester, Roade, Kings Sutton and Nether Heyford.
Councillor Rosie Herring, SNC’s member for community engagement and wellbeing said: “This is a marvellous opportunity for SNC to promote the arts by providing people with a production that can be enjoyed by all the family without having to travel to a theatre.
“It’s really important that SNC funds live performances because the arts are valued and enjoyed by everyone, but tickets for shows in village halls can only be sold in low numbers and for a few pounds, so the community grant eases the financial risk for the company.”
