Dropped cig costs Bicester man a packet
BICESTER: A Bicester man who was spotted dropping a cigarette butt in Sheep Street in January last year will have to pay more than £200.
Andrew Blackler, of Bernwood Road, was seen littering by some of Cherwell District Council’s street wardens, who handed him a £75 fine.
After Mr Blackler failed to pay up the council issued a summons for him to attend Banbury Magistrates Court. Mr Blackler attended court and apologised.
Mr Blackler was told to pay a £100 fine, a £15 victim surcharge, and £100 costs.
Councillor Nigel Morris said: “This is another example of how a careless action can lead to a substantial fine.”
