Early signs of potential in Strictly by Towcester
Strictly by Towcester - the celebrities - by Martin Farmer on behalf of the Step by Step Dance School
A Mayor, an MPs husband and a secondary school head boy are among the celebrities taking part in the first Strictly by Towcester.
They met their semi-professional dance partners from the Step by Step Dance School for the first time at Towcester Centre for Leisure last Friday night.
Over the next seven weeks they will be spending up to four or five hours a week training ahead of a public final at the leisure centre on Sunday, March 25.
The event mirrors fund raising competitions held in Northampton, Banbury, Astwell and Brackley and will raise money for the Northants Parent and Infant Project (NORPIP) founded by south Northants MP Andrea Leadsom.
Mrs Leadsom said there was a perfect fit between the charity, which provides support for parents bonding with a new born, and the family fun of Strictly.

Mrs Leadsom said both and she and her husband had both been keen to take up dancing, but due to other commitments, she asked him to step into her dancing shoes.
Tizzy Jones of Step by Step said already several were showing promising signs.
She said: “The training session went very well, Colin Reid from Towcester Rugby Club said it was a lot more physical than he’d expected, but they all did very well. In fact you can start to predict who is going to have the moves.”
Those taking part and gathering sponsorship are; Martin Johns (Towecster Mayor), Ben Leadsom (MPs husband), Simon Jenkins, Bradley Jones, Jacob Clark, Richard Irlam, Chris Durant, Adam Button (Sponne School head boy), Kevin Waterhouse, Justin Skists, Colin Reid, Vanessa Bird and Jane Phillips.
