A family from King’s Sutton raised more than £55,000 for Prostate Cancer Research by organising several fundraising events last year.

Annie Scott lost her husband Rupert, 53, to prostate cancer in November 2012 and since his death, the family’s charitable exploits included son Sam finishing the Silverstone Half Marathon in March and Mrs Scott completing the London Marathon a month later on April 21.

The family held their last fundraising event, called Movember for Rupert, at London nightclub Under the Bridge on November 29.

The night raised more than £33,000, which went to a specialist prostate cancer research unit at Guy’s Hospital in London.

Mrs Scott said: “The night took the fundraising to more than £55,000 for the year, which is incredible. We cannot thank everyone enough, we have a great family and everyone has been so supportive.

“Rupert’s consultant suggested to us the team at Guy’s Hospital was the best team doing research at the moment.”
