A young film maker from Greens Norton is celebrating after the judges singled out his creation in the county’s annual festival of short films.
Film Northants, now in its fifth year, is a showcase of the county’s film making talent, and on Monday evening 200 people filled Cineworld in Northampton to see the winners announced.
Barry Smith from Daventry won the public vote with his supernatural drama No Second Chances, but the experts choose a film by 25-year-old Ashley Williams for the Judges Choice Award.
Mr Williams, a Sponne School graduate, describes his film entitled Disparu as an animated 1950s film-noire which utilises modern techniques to give the film a comic book feel.
The film was produced entirely at his Greens Norton home and Mr Williams said: “I really didn’t expect to win. This is the third year I have entered and the first time I have won anything. But Film Northants gives everyone a chance to make films.”
He now receives a cash prize, studio time and a film course placement. To view the film visit www.filmnorthants.co.uk.
