Local volunteers joined members of Buckingham Town Council and Stowe Sub Aqua Club for the first River Rinse of the year on Sunday, September 16.
Every year, the river is cleaned by volunteers in two stages, one in September and the other in October.
The first rinse cleared the stretch from Cornwall’s Meadow to the ford on Ford Street.
Among the more interesting finds extracted from the murky depths this year were a concrete garden roller, a fire surround and two road signs saying ‘West End’.
“We filled the skip up really quickly,” said town planning officer Sam Dix.

Firefighters from Buckingham Fire Station turned up on the day wearing water protective clothing to assist the sub-aqua club team in the water.
Station manager Tim Parkins said: “I arranged for the crew to go down.
“We’re trying to support community events and, if it stops flooding, we have a vested interest.”
The firefighters will also be assisting with the second River Rinse on Sunday, October 7, which will start at 10.30am at Ford Street and work its way as far as possible towards the university.
For more information on the River Rinse, call the town council on 01280 816426.
