Flood alerts in force near Towcester and Bicester

Flood alerts are currently in place for rivers near Towcester and Bicester.

The Environment Agency has issued flood alerts for the River Tove, near Towcester and Langford and Wendlebury Brooks, between Stratton Audley and Merton.

The latest information from the Environment Agency, which was issued at 3.30pm this afternoon, said: “The Langford Brook and Wendlebury Brook have responded rapidly to today’s heavy rain and will spill out into the floodplain. There is a chance the Wendlebury Brook will continue to rise and could cause property flooding.”

For the River Tove, a precautionary flood alert was issued at 9.45am this morning, but there have been no further updates.

There are currently no flood warnings or flood alerts issued for the River Great Ouse at Buckingham.
