More than 5,000 food lovers are expected to flock to Towcester this summer for the launch of the town’s first food festival.

The two-day festival will celebrate local artisan-produced food and drink with at least 70 stalls, chef demonstrations, food workshops, street food vendors, crafts, and live entertainment.

It will take place at Towcester Racecourse on Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8, with fringe events in the town, including a Real Ale Trail. The festival will also help to raise money for good causes locally.

Festival chief executive Crispin Slee is pictured eating Towcester cheesecakes at the Dolphin cafe with CEO of Towcester Racecourse Keven Ackerman to launch the event.

Mr Slee said: “This is an exciting new event for South Northants. We want to get the whole community behind it and really bring Towcester to life for the weekend.

“The racecourse provides the perfect home for the festival. It is a wonderful parkland setting and has lots of free parking at the site.

“We also want to encourage people to visit the town, once they’ve been to the festival, and aim to have a number of fringe events, including a real ale trail around its pubs.”

Food producers wanting to take part should get in touch as soon as possible.

TowcesterFood Festival is supported by South Northants District Council. Tickets are £5 for adults. Tickets are £5 for adults. Children and parking are free. Visit www.towcesterfoodfestival.co.uk
