Buckingham Canal Society Cosgrove Canal Festival. 120722M-A761

WARMER weather at long last brought people out in droves for the Buckingham Canal Society’s Cosgrove Canal Festival last weekend.

Among the colourful collection of historic and working narrowboats, the Fudge Boat was doing a steady trade.

Members of the canal society were on hand to assist passing boaters through Cosgrove Lock, in exchange for a ‘ransom’.

Added attractions included performances by the Pump House Clog Morris Dancers and the Buckingham U3A handbell ringers.

And visitors could also enjoy a short walk down the canal to the newly refurbished Iron Trunk aqueduct.

Built in 1811, this 10.8m-high feat of Georgian engineering has been recently restored to its original colours to mark its bicentenary last year.

The Iron Trunk was formally opened by the Lord Lieutenant of Bucks at noon on Sunday.
