Funding secured for East West Rail Link

TOWNS including Winslow and Bicester are set to benefit from a £9bn package of railway improvements announced today by David Cameron.
Funding was finally confirmed for the long-awaited western section of the East West Rail Link, which will join Bicester and Winslow with towns such as Bedford and Reading.
The electrification of the Oxford to Bedford section was also announced today.
Transport Secretary Justine Greening said the investment demonstrated the coalition government’s commitment to an affordable, reliable and faster railway network.
A new station is due to be built in Winslow under the plans, and Bicester Town station will be extended and rebuilt.
