Gas upgrade in the pipeline for Bicester from Monday
Motorists are being warned to expect disruption in Buckingham Road in Bicester for around 14 weeks when work to replace gas pipes starts next Monday, September 10.
The metal gas mains in Buckingham Road will be replaced with plastic pipes.
Scotia Gas Networks spokesman Garry Percival apologised for any inconvenience and said workers would try to minimise disruption.
He added: “We understand that people can get frustrated by road works; however, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means that when the work is complete, people will continue to enjoy the benefits of a safe and secure gas supply for years to come.”
One lane will be closed between the roundabout with North Street and Bicester North station.
Motorists will be able to head south towards Bicester Village, and a diversion route will direct traffic heading north along Banbury Road.
The lane closure will be lifted after six weeks, and temporary traffic lights will be used on Buckingham Road for a further eight weeks.
