Put on your 1950s or 1960s gladrags and get ready for a night of live rock’n’roll music, dancing and nostalgia in aid of Florence Nightingale Hospice.
The Live Rock’n’Roll event is set to take place from 7.30pm to 11.30pm on Saturday, September 7, at Buckingham Athletic Sports Club.
And local musicians and businesses are working together to make the evening a success.
A group of experienced local musicians have formed themselves into a group, called The Rock Band, especially for the evening.
They will be playing rock’n’roll numbers from the 1950s and 1960s.
People attending the gig are encouraged to ‘dress to impress’ in 1950s and 1960s costume, and there will be prizes for the best dressed.
Local businesses are donating raffle, silent auction and competition prizes, but more are still needed,
Adel Fountain, of Fox Vintage, is donating the handmade vintage-style dress she is modelling in the photograph.
She said: “I will put my dress on display and if that’s their size they can have that one, but if it’s not I can make them one.”
She is also offering costume advice, from her West Street store, to people attending the event and will be hiring out outfits for the evening.
Each table can test their knowledge of the era by taking part in a black and white 1950s and 1960s nostagia photograph competition.
The Castielli School Of Dance, from Aylesbury will be setting the scene with a demonstration of jive and rock’n’roll.
Tickets are on sale at £10 from Fox Vintage or Londis on Nelson Street.
