Some great prizes are on offer at a family fun bingo evening at St Edburg’s Church Hall, Old Place Yard, Bicester, on Saturday, January 18.

The fundraising evening is being organised by Lucy Rattenberry, who lost her husband, Tom, to a rare form of cancer on February 2 last year, at the age of 28.

The event aims to raise money for the NET Patient Foundation, which supports people affected by neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) and funds clinical research.

The couple, who lived in Steeple Claydon, had been married just five months when Tom died.

Now Mrs Rattenberry wants to help raise awareness of the disease, as early diagnosis significantly improves outcomes for patients.

Fifty per cent of NET patients are only diagnosed after the cancer has already spread, and 61 per cent of patients in the UK were treated for the wrong disease before being diagnosed with a malignant NET.

The family fun bingo evening will also include a raffle and refreshments.

Prizes on offer include a Smeg dishwasher, a family photoshoot and family days out. Doors open at 6.30pm for, with eyes down at 7.30pm

Tickets cost £1 each or £5 for a book of six.
