Gritty realism with BOGOF salt promotion to the parishes
Parishes and schools in Bucks are being offered a ‘two-for-one’ deal by Transport for Bucks (TfB) on tonne bags of salt for the winter.
Last year, TfB offered tonne bags of salt for sale to all parishes to keep their own stock for use on footways and other places off the treated road network.
The offer continues this year, with a special ‘buy one, get one free’ promotion running until November 16.
Prices are £60 for a bag collected, or £85 delivered. They will be available for collection or delivery during November.
Cabinet member for planning and transport, Peter Hardy, said: “Our staff work long hours over the winter season to keep the roads as safe as possible, however we value the contribution of the local parishes in keeping other areas of their towns and villages safe, that may not be part of our priority routes.
“This year, parishes can purchase large salt bags directly from us, as an effective way of keeping a stock of their own salt. This can be used as the parish sees fit, on footways or other vulnerable areas, in the event of severe weather.”
The ‘buy one, get one free’ salt offer is also open to schools across Bucks.
