Hesketh bikes are 30 this year

editorial image

A LEGACY of the Hesketh family will appear at a motorcycle show in Stafford in April when it turns 30 years old.

After the chequered history of the Hesketh motorcycle marque, the Hesketh Owners’ Club will celebrate the milestone at the Carole Nash International Classic Motorcycle Show.

In February 1982 the first bikes were received by owners, but by the August the business had gone bankrupt and all its assets were auctioned off by the receivers.

Many owners attended the auction and formed the owners’ club to replace the loss of support from the factory.

Lord Hesketh, former owner of the Easton Neston estate, tried to resurrect the business but it was eventually taken over by Mick Broom from Greens Norton who produced a further 200 bikes.

The marque now has a new owner and plans are in place to produce the bikes again.
