High winds damage building in Towcester

WIND: The road by the side of the Homebase Store in Towcester had to be closed for several hours on Monday afternoon after high winds blew a facia panel away from the building.

The Towcester fire crew were called to Old Tiffield Road just before 6pm following reports of the eight by one metre facia panel coming loose from the building.

Store manager Nicola Dowling said they had to close for three hours, but are now open this morning.

She said: “One of the corrugated facia panels came away from the building, it was pretty windy.

“Which is why we had to close the store, for health and safety reasons. We didn’t want any one of our colleagues or customers getting hurt.

“We are back open today however the garden centre is closed until repairs are done. They are coming this morning so we are hoping by mid-morning everything will be open.”
