Charity cyclists outside Waitrose Buckingham last week were amazed how many people wanted to stop and talk to them about Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Stuart Birrell from Great Horwood and Alan Webb from Maidford, along with a team of six friends, rode a stationary bike in relays from 8am to 8pm last Friday and Saturday.

They collected more than £650 in buckets for the MND Association, in addition to what was put in the collecting tins.

They have also raised more than £730 on their website, http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/caswellfriends

Mr Webb said: “The public round there did us proud. I really was overwhelmed. People were leaving notes in the bucket. Somebody left a £20 note.

“It was about trying to bring it to the public and we think we did that, with the amount of people that stopped to tatlk to us. There were hundreds of people stopped, literally.

“Some people felt very isolated and just wanted to have a chat with us. “

The team clocked up 352 miles in 24 hours and have now revised their fundraising target to £1,500.
