Inspirational visitor opens school’s new theatre

Children at Beachborough School met an acclaimed Hollywood composer earlier this month.

Harry Gregson-Williams visited the school to officially open its new theatre, which has recently been refurbished, and gave an inspirational talk.

Mr Gregson-Williams is famous for composing the film scores for hits such as Shrek, Chicken Run, The Rock, The Chronicles of Narnia, X-Men Originals: Wolverine, Bridget Jones, Arthur Christmas, Cowboys and Aliens and Prometheus.

He is currently spending a year as composer in residence at Stowe School.

Headmaster Jonathan Whybrow said: “The building of our new sports hall has allowed us to dedicate this old gym to the arts and we are honoured to have a composer of Harry’s status to mark this important stage in Beachborough’s development.”

Mr Gregson-Williams is a former top music scholar at Stowe, who subsequently studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

He has lived and worked in Los Angeles since 1995.
