AFTER the success of a Sunday carvery a landlord in Greens Norton has invested £4,000 in new equipment and is now able to share that success with village residents.

At the beginning of 2011 Roland Jones and his wife Sarah at the Butchers Arms introduced a £8.95 Sunday carvery, and after spending money on a new bain marie they are now offering a £4.99 mid-week carvery for senior citizens.

Mr Jones said: “We’re always looking to diversify in what is an incredibly difficult market place, especially while keeping a village pub alive while there are still numerous pubs closing down nationally. We have just got into doing outside bar and a pig roast. And as a village pub you can’t rely on people just coming in, you have to give them a reason. We’ve got heavily into themes. Monday night is our curry night, all you can eat Thai and Indian buffet, and we’re about to add Mexican and a Fish and Chip night. We are just constantly looking at the whole thing, and put our pricing at a level we would consider towards the affordable end the market.”
