Jobs at Brackley luxury soap maker could be at risk
STAFF at the Bronnley luxury soap factory in Brackley have been told their jobs are under consultation today, Tuesday, April 17.
A statement issued by the Radstone Road factory said: “Following a detailed review of its current operating model Bronnley & Co has concluded that much needed cost savings could be made by outsourcing the manufacture and warehousing of its products from its Brackley site and moving to office premises.
“Today the company has announced a period of consultation with its staff to consider these proposals. No decisions have been made about the proposals and none will be made until the period of employee consultation is complete and that will be at least a month away.”
The news comes after the firm was bought out of administration by shareholders in December.
The spokesman added: “Without their intervention the company would have gone into liquidation with the inevitable and unhappy consequences that would entail.
“The shareholders are committed to rebuilding a British brand with a great reputation and long heritage and is therefore looking at every option to make this a reality.”
At the age of 19 James Bronnley founded H Bronnley & Co in London in 1884. After moving around in the later half of the 20th century the company moved to its current site in 1989. The company is also a Royal Warrant holder.
