South Northants may be lit up once again after the district was put on the programme of works to replace the county’s 65,000 street lights.

There was uproar in 2011 when Northants County Council switched off half the street lights in order to save £2million. There was further concern the district was not included in the programme to replace the remaining lights with the latest technology.

On Monday evening county councillor Ron Sawbridge announced work would begin in south Northants later this year.
