A PAIR of friends dressed as Dalmations drove more than 2,000 miles while planking all over Britain last weekend, as they raised money for a charity which helps the deaf maintain independent lives.

Planking is an internet viral fad where people photograph themselves lying face down with their hands at their side, often in odd locations.

Julia Garside, 38 from Stratton Audley, and Finmere Parish Council clerk Sharon Chalcroft, 53 from Syresham, formed the Mad Mutts team to take part in the Scally Rally between Caernarfon and Fort William.

They took pictures of themselves lying across yellow lines, in a card shop, and even persuaded 11 Lake District walkers to plank with them.

The week before the rally they collected £150 FOR Hearing Dogs Charity at when they visited the Syresham Scarecrow Festival.

Mrs Garside said: “Hearing Dogs don’t get the same kind of exposure as some other charities that deal with what dogs can do for people, but the impact that a trained dog can have on the life of a deaf person is incredible.”
