Make sure you’re on roll to vote on police post
AYLESBURY Vale residents will shortly be receiving their annual electoral registration forms and need to decide whether ‘to opt in or opt out’.
Each year, two versions of the electoral register are compiled.
The ‘full register’ lists the names and addresses of everyone who is registered to vote. Anyone may look at it, but it’s a criminal offence to supply or use copies for purposes other than set down in the law.
The ‘edited register’ is available for sale and can be used for any purpose, including marketing. If you opt out, you will not be included on the edited register.
The council has to carry out an annual canvass each year.
If you don’t respond, you could find that your name has been removed from the register and will be unable to vote at elections.
Elections will be held later this year for the Police and Crime Commissioner for the Thames Valley area, so this form is particularly important.
