Man arrested on suspicion of murder in Bicester

A 40 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after police officers were called to a house in Lucerne Avenue, Bicester, at around 10.30am this morning, Saturday.

Officers from Thames Valley Police found a woman with serious injuries at the house and despite attempts by police and ambulance staff to resuscitate her, the woman was declared dead at hospital.

Det Ch Insp Joe Kidman, leading the investigation, said: “We have made an arrest and at this stage, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident. We are keen to speak with anyone in Lucerne Avenue this morning who may have important information that will assist us in building a clear picture of this tragic incident."

Area Commander Supt Andy Boyd, said: “Such violent crime is very rare in Cherwell and I understand the concern that incidents such as these can cause. The investigation is in the early stages and your neighbourhood policing team will be available in the local area to offer reassurance."

Anyone who has any information which may help officers with their enquiries should contact Thames Valley Police on 101.

If you don't want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
