ASSAULT: A 26-year-old Banbury man who police said was “unable to control his temper” has been jailed for GBH following two assaults which left his victims with serious injuries.

Benjamin Louther got into a dispute with a work colleague as they were were driving along a country lane in Botolph Claydon on September 25 last year, after attending a party where they had both been drinking.

After they got out of the car, Louther lost his temper and punched his 32-year-old colleague in the face, knocking him to the ground.

While he was on the floor, Louther continued to punch him in the face and, when he tried to get up, Louther knocked him down again and kicked him.

The victim suffered a broken cheekbone requiring surgery, as well as cuts and bruises.

On August 31 last year, Louther lost his temper with a 21-year-old football opponent while playing on the sports field at Horley Path Road in Banbury, and punched him in the face, breaking his cheekbone.

The victim required surgery.

Louther was jailed for eight years at Aylesbury Crown Court last Friday.
