Meet line-up for new police post
There’s a chance to see and hear the candidates for the newly-created role of Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) on Monday, October 29.
The hustings event, from 4.30pm at the Gateway, Gatehouse Road, Aylesbury, will enable the six candidates in the Thames Valley region to set out their priorities should they be elected on November 15.
People attending can also quiz the candidates on what they want to achieve if elected.
Candidates will be invited to speak for up to five minutes, followed by 15 minutes of questioning.
The event is open to the public but places must be booked in advance. To book, contact Bucks County Council at pccevent@buckscc.gov.uk or 01296 387738 by noon on Monday.
Each of the 41 police areas in England and Wales, excluding London, will have one PCC.
Home Office leaflets on the election have been posted to 21 million homes this week and those elected in November will serve for three and a half years.
The election is being run locally by Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) which has posted poll cards to all eligible registered voters this week.
Leader of Bucks County Council, Martin Tett, said: “I would urge everyone to come along. By voting on November 15, we can directly influence policing in Bucks.
“The hustings are an opportunity to hear what the candidates stand for, what their priorities are and, most importantly, how they respond to the issues that concern residents.”
