With a new supplier there will be a slight change to the format of the Winslow Lions Beer Festival next month.

As always there will be wide range of beers and ales, a smattering of ciders, and Commons speaker John Bercow has once again agreed to call punters to order on Friday, March 15.

However the new supplier, Vale Brewery has smaller racking for the barrels, allowing half of Winslow Hall to be given over to seating.

Lions president Jack Millburn said: “We’ve still got over 40 beers and ciders, 36 beers and five or six ciders. But they are going to be arranged differently. They are all going to be on one side of the hall, with seating and tables on the other. It’ll feel a bit more like a bierkeller.”

With the first hour reserved for sponsors, the doors will open to the public at 7pm.

Over the last seven years the festival has raised around £58,000, which has been donated to a wide range of charities from the Chiltern Air Ambulance, to a dishwasher for the Tree House Preschool.

Despite being a chance help good causes Mr Millburn said its success is down to much more and added: “I think it’s the friendliness of the whole occasion.

“On the Friday night we can have between 280 and 300 people in the hall, it gets fairly cosy in there but it’s always good humoured and it’s great to see people enjoying themselves.”

The festival continues Saturday with a matinee from 1pm which will include a live screening of the Six Nations rugby Tournament, followed by a Saturday evening session. Each session costs £5, with a £2 discount if you stay on from the matinee session to the evening session. Entry includes a souvenir glass and a programme with a full beer list.
