There was a huge turnout for the Bicester Hunt with Whaddon Chase Hounds’ annual Boxing Day meet in Winslow, which takes place in the show field opposite Winslow Hall.

This year, about 100 people turned up on horseback to take part in the hunt, ranging in age from under 10 to over 70.

They were joined for the meet by supporters on foot who had come from miles around.

To cheers and applause, the hunt, with hunt master Ivan Lawrence and huntsman Patrick Martin, headed down Horn Street and out towards East Claydon.

Area secretary Rachel Atkins said: “It was a very successful day. We had a few thrills and spills but nothing serious.

“Because of all the rain we’d had, it was absolutely filthy. I came home absolutely plastered.”
