New homes plans are gathering pace

Long awaited plans for new housing developments in Brackley are gathering pace following the demolition of an eyesore at the entrance of the town.
Over the last few weeks the remains of the Brackley Sawmills off Northampton Road have been dismantled, and the development rights holder hopes to have the site cleared by the end of September.
Peter Jones, of Providence Court Investments, which currently owns the development rights to the Sawmills site said: “Both of the bigger buildings have been demolished. We were worried about health and safety and kids getting in there, and goodness know what. And there’s Gibbs and Dandy who occupied the other end of the site, they’ve now closed and will be leaving at the end of August. And the rest of the building will be demolished, mainly for health and safety reasons by the end of September.
“Hopefully things will start moving very shortly.”
Mr Jones said although no deal had been struck, Bloor Homes had been in discussions with SNC for around nine months and he is confident they will end up purchasing development rights.
He added: “There’s still reserved matter and full planning permission to be granted, but building could start by spring next year.”
Mr Jones is also in negotiations with Manor Oak Homes based in Walgrave over the land behind the BP station, known locally as the Robson land, which SNC said could, in principle, be developed for housing.
Mr Jones added: “The most imminent development will be the Sawmills and it will be nice to see the site cleared away
“It’s all going terribly well. This is the first development from the Masterplan for north Brackley, we have suffered some delays, but the local authorities, understandably, don’t want to set a precedent on one site they will be held to on another site.”
Manor Oak Homes based in Walgrave, near Northampton, have bought the rights to develop the Robson land.
William Main, the firm’s managing director said: “We’ve done a screening exercise with SNC and we have a meeting with them next Wednesday to continue discussing our proposal with some of my consultants. It is the last jigsaw in the Brackley Masterplan and acts as link between the Sawmills and the Radstone Fields development, so effectively it is a link site. We have proposed about 180 houses to SNC, with public open space, a wildlife area, cycle routes and links to Radstone.”
Barrett Strategic, who along with Taylor Wimpey want to build 1,000 homes at Radstone Fields said they were still in discussion with SNC ahead of a full planning application.
